COLT BRISKET

Man From The Future

Months ago, on a nearby hill, I was hiking to escape reality. What did I find? The stone cold truth of reality in the only place stone cold truths remain - in a book. There it was beneath a sagebrush scorched on its edges, steam wafting from its pages, a crack down the middle of its spine. It smelled of rotting fish and worm-ridden apples. Thinking this relic originated with the Egyptians or the Toltecs or the Mayans, I carefully lifted the cover. The light that shone upon me that day, can now shine upon you, for this book was not the product of our ancestors, but of our descendants.

This book does not purport to tell the story of our time. It tells the story of our future.

Get ready for the year 2046. It’s already gone down. Where once there was one America, now there are two. No communication, no travel, no trade, no trust between the United States and the Trump States. A desperate family makes an ill-fated break for the US. A rescue mission goes awry. One man, a nurse with no reason other than an inferiority complex and too many pharmaceuticals, washes ashore in the TSA. His name is Volten Cand and all he wants to do is go back home to his lonely, depressed state of existence in the US.

On his quest for escape, Volten confronts guns, police, cults, outlaw feminists, wannabe oligarchs, and entrenched militias finally coming into contact with rival factions of the Trump family. The odyssey forces Volten to address what it means to be a man, an American, a human, and even the Second Coming.
